What We Believe

The Scriptures

We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, the infallible and only rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:19-21).

2 Timothy 3:16, 17

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

The Trinity

We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three Persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; that they are equal in every divine perfection (Exodus 20:2,3; Matthew 28:19,20).

Creation

We believe the Genesis account of creation as a literal (Genesis 1:1-2:25; Colossians 1:16; John 1:3-10).

Colossians 1:16

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.

Satan

We believe in the reality and personality of Satan; that he is the author of sin, the initiator of man’s temptation and fall (Genesis 3, Matthew 4:1-11, Isaiah 14:12-17).

The Fall of Man

We believe that man was created in innocence, but fell in Adam, and is unable to remedy his lost condition (Genesis 3:1-6; Romans 3:10-19; 5:12,19).

Romans 5:12

12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

Salvation

We believe that the salvation of sinners is divinely initiated and wholly by grace through faith in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ (John 3:16; Acts 4:12; Ephesians 2:8-10).

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Christian Growth

We believe that all who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ will become more like Christ as the Holy Spirit leads and teaches them daily the Word of God (Romans 8:28,29).

Romans 8:28, 29

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

The Church

We believe that the church is the baptized believers, voluntarily associated by covenant in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 2:41-47); that it is the responsibility of all church members to make disciples of Christ (Matthew 28:19, 20).

Matthew 28:19, 20

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Church Ordinances

We believe Jesus Christ instituted the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper to be observed until he comes (Matthew 28:19, 20; 1 Corinthians 11:17-34).

Matthew 28:19, 20

9 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Separation

We believe that the Christian is to separate himself unto Christ in true holiness (Romans 12:1,2).

Future Events

We believe in the pre-tribulational, pre-millennial return of Christ, an event which can occur at any moment (Philippians 3:20,21); that there will be a bodily resurrection of the dead - the just will enter into eternal joy with God (Revelation 21:1-7), the unjust will experience everlasting conscious punishment in the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:11-15; 21:8-9).
